About
Bus beat down. The name really says it all.
Every day millions of people all over the world board buses, trains, subways, monorails, and other forms of public transportation to get from place to place.
These methods of transportation mean strangers are pushed into close proximity with one another and they’re forced to remain together for a period of time. They’re also forced to fight for their space and their privacy.
The close proximity of strangers and their inability to flee makes the modern day public transportation little more than a prison, a prison without guards or cells.
This situation inevitably leads to altercations and fights (we call em beat downs). We will also notice that many of these altercations are in fact racial, once again similar to a prison.
To make matters worse, public transportation these days is usually completely unmanned, except for buses, which gives people the feeling of security and makes them forget about consequences for their behavior.
Imagine the guards in a prison unlock all the cell doors, then they leave, the prisoners locked inside the walls of the prison. What would happen? We don’t need to imagine, all we have to do is get on a bus or a train.
Thanks to personal video recorders being everywhere and surveillance cameras being everywhere we get to witness these beat downs first hand.
